Exhibitions: International Year of Youth ceremony
SHOOT NATIONS AT INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY CEREMONY 2011
The United Nations secretary general, Ban Ki-moon declared 2010 the International Year of Youth in a ceremony in New York on International Youth Day 2011. Young people from Shoot Nations and Plan International presented Shoot Nations in photos and their own words.
Our very own Katie Washington (Plan Yap) and Emily Rycroft (Shoot Nations UK winner) presented confidently and were well received by the audience of signatories, invited guests and youth representatives from around the world.
In the evening the Shoot Nations exhibition (Visual Voices) opened in the United Nations lobby. Shoot Nations 2010 project photos on theme of Urbanisation were presented to Dr Jean-Pierre Gonot, director of the Department of the UN Social and Economic Affairs with speeches being made by Dr Gonot, Shoot Nations founder Brett Jefferson Stott, Plan USA ceo, Audrey Bracey Deegan and Emily Rycroft who presented the Lightbox of images to Dr Gonot.
