Further flair was added to proceedings by MTV presenter Laura Whitmore presenting the UK winner with her prize at the ceremony.
A private exhibition of Shoot Nations photos was installed for the meeting of the World Youth Congress (1,000 delegates) at the United Nations Secretariat building in NYC for International Youth Day. A large light-box (framed artwork) of project photos was presented to the UN to go on permanent display. SHOOT NATIONS 2007
THEME: Governance
Shoot Nations 2007 saw the competition grow in strength as Shoot Experience joined forces with International children’s charity Plan International. The theme for 2007 was ‘Governance’, engaging young people to express their thoughts on power, control and participation. The competition received over 1500 entries from 85 countries around the world.
A presentation of 48 of the best photos was made to the world's highest form of government on 10 August at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to celebrate International Youth Day 2007.
This presentation realised the central concept of the project, that ‘the smallest family or community issue in the most remote part of the world can be photographed and displayed at the highest level of global government’.
